“Tension” was the first of two projects I did in collaboration with Jayjay Ugbe, AKA The Black Hibiscus for his upcoming EP (along with Don’t Wanna Miss U. We shot at Pirate’s Cove in Long Island in June 2024 and drew inspiration from various Art-House cinema sources, especially the work of Ingmar Bergman. Jayjay wanted a very compressed, geometric look with large blocks of separate colors. For this, we shot with the Sigma 150-600mm, with a few shots on the Sony G Master 70-200mm, which we paired with the Sony FX6. The terrain offered us opportunities for extreme high and low angles due to the 40ft sand dune overlooking the Long Island Sound. Tension was released on July 26th and has garnered over 12k views.
